a story of freshness

In 2016, at the age of nineteen, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, yearning to unveil both my identity and purpose. It was during this time that I stumbled upon the detrimental impact commercial candles had on the environment and humanity at large. Fueled by a desire for change, I took decisive action, utilizing the earnings from my latest serving shift to invest in 25 pounds of soy wax from Amazon, essential oils procured at a discounted rate from Whole Foods, and a 12-pack of mason jars from my local Walmart.

My inspiration stemmed from a profound personal experience—heartbreak—wherein candles played a pivotal role in providing solace. Although it may sound cliché, it is undeniably true. This transformative moment ignited a passion within me for pure herbal scents, intricate blends, and the therapeutic impact they have on the mind. Delving into aspects such as fragrance memory, I was determined to offer candle enthusiasts a healthier alternative for their burning pleasure.

From this pursuit, Ninakupenda metamorphosed into Held, and I, Kassandra, transitioned into the realm of a holistic esthetician. The synergy between the two aspects of my life created the perfect blend, a harmonious fusion of my newfound candle-making venture and my commitment to holistic skincare.
